The Department of Personnel & Training (DoP&T) has issued an advisory for public authorities to proactively disclose details of foreign and domestic official tours undertaken by Ministers, officials of the rank of Joint Secretary and above, and Heads of Departments. This initiative aims to reduce the number of RTI applications regarding travel details by providing information on the nature of tours, places visited, duration, delegation size, and total costs. The disclosures are to be updated quarterly, starting from July 1, 2012, covering tours since January 1, 2012. Exemptions under Section 8 of the RTI Act apply, and the advisory excludes security and intelligence organizations as well as CVOs.
