The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued a directive to M/s Reliance Communications Limited following their decision to discontinue voice services in 11 licensed service areas. To protect consumer interests, TRAI has mandated the immediate generation and communication of Unique Porting Codes (UPCs) to all subscribers to facilitate seamless mobile number portability. The directive also grants an exemption from the standard 90-day restriction period for subscribers who recently joined the network. This measure ensures that affected prepaid and postpaid users can port their numbers to other service providers before the service closure date. The order applies to multiple regions including Bihar, Delhi, Mumbai, and others.
