The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued a direction regarding the discontinuation of 2G/GSM services and the migration of CDMA networks to LTE/4G by Reliance Communications Limited (RCL). Following the merger of Systema Shyam Televentures Limited into RCL, the company will cease voice services in specific licensed service areas effective December 1, 2017. To facilitate subscriber migration, TRAI has granted an exemption from the mandatory 90-day mobile number portability (MNP) restriction for recently acquired or ported subscribers. RCL is required to inform all affected subscribers of their options to port out to other operators. This measure ensures that consumers are not left without network connectivity during the service transition.
