Reduction of Statutory EPF Contribution Rate from 12% to 10% for May, June, and July 2020

The EPFO has notified a reduction in the statutory EPF contribution rate from 12% to 10% for the wage months of May, June, and July 2020. This measure, part of the Atma-Nirbhar Bharat package, aims to provide liquidity relief to employers and employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. The reduction does not apply to Central or State Public Sector enterprises or establishments owned by the government. Additionally, it is not applicable to PMGKY beneficiaries whose contributions are fully covered by the Central Government. Members retain the option to contribute at a rate higher than the new 10% statutory rate.
