EPFO Onboards Air India for Social Security Coverage

Air India Ltd has been voluntarily covered under the EPF & MP Act 1952, effective from December 1, 2021. This move brings approximately 7,453 employees under the EPFO umbrella for social security benefits. Employees will now receive an increased employer contribution of 12% to their Provident Fund accounts. Additionally, they are now eligible for the EPF Scheme 1952, EPS 1995, and EDLI 1976, including guaranteed minimum pensions and insurance benefits. This transition replaces the previous PF Act 1925 coverage which lacked statutory pension and insurance schemes.
