The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) is seeking public comments on a proposal to allow the use of ordinary postal stamps for paying RTI application fees. This initiative follows recommendations from the Central Information Commission (CIC) to simplify payment methods. The government has identified potential challenges, including accounting difficulties and the risk of stamp misuse, which are currently being reviewed by a committee. Citizens are invited to submit their views and suggestions via email by February 7, 2015. This proposal, if implemented, would require an amendment to the existing RTI Rules, 2012.
