Clarification on Gratuity Limitation under National Pension System for Re-employed Government Servants

The Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare has issued a clarification regarding the limitation of gratuity amounts for government servants re-employed after rendering military service. The memorandum specifies that gratuity for service rendered after re-employment in civil service shall not be subject to limitations based on gratuity previously drawn for military service. This clarification aligns with the CCS (Payment of Gratuity under NPS) Amendment Rules, 2025. Ministries and departments are instructed to ensure strict implementation of these provisions for personnel dealing with pensionary benefits. The order was issued in consultation with the Ministry of Finance and the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
